May 2010

Well, it has once again been quite awhile since my last “News” entry but I’d like to draw your attention to some recent happenings and upcoming events.  The official Quartet of Happiness CD release of “The Monster Returns” and our JazzSmiles fundraiser campaign got off to a great start at Scullers Jazz Club on Tuesday, May 18th!  Check out the links below to read some articles in the Boston Globe and Phoenix about Quartet of Happiness and the JazzSmiles Campaign.  You can log on to our QOH website for the most up to date info about school performances, club shows, tours, and for complete info about the JazzSmiles Campaign.  We’ll be doing some school shows around the Boston area in June, then we’ll have a short break until August as things pick up with the upcoming school year.

I’m also very excited to be a part of the Bob Washut Big Band at the Iowa City Jazz Festival this July!  The band is comprised of several talented Iowa jazz musicians and educators, and will feature Bob’s original big band compositions and arrangements. I consider him to be one of the greatest musicians, teachers, and friends I’ve had and I am truly honored to be a part of this festival.  We’ll be performing at The Hub in Cedar Falls, Ia on Thursday, July 1st, and then at the IC Jazz Festival Friday, July 2nd.

Thanks for checking in and I’ll hope to see many of you in the near future!

December 2009

Happy Holidays everyone!

I hope everyone has had safe holiday travels so far, especially if you’re traveling through any of the blizzards and rain in the midwest and south.  Other than my delayed travels, things have been going well out here in Boston.  The QOH just finished up a busy stretch of school shows and performances in Framingham, Acton, and Norwood, Ma, as well as a short trip out to Nampa, Idaho to do a series of performances/workshops at various area schools.  Thanks to Phil Hoesing and the Nampa School District for helping make the trip possible!  We’ve also finally mailed out our album for production, so we’re excited to start planning CD release shows/events.

I’ll be starting off the new year by doing a couple of performances with bassist Kendall Eddy at the Lily Pad and Beehive in Boston.  Kendall is about to release his own album as a leader and I’m very excited to be a part of his music!  Also, I’ll be playing the first Sunday of each month at Johnny D’s with the Boston based Jazz Composer’s Alliance Orchestra.  This is a great band featuring many fine musicians and lots of original big band music.  Check it out!!!

I’m also very excited to be a part of a recently finished CD by drummer Paolo Lattanzi, featuring the great Robin Eubanks on trombone.  Check out http://www.characteristicpitches.com for more info as the group will be planning CD release performances soon!

Anyway, that’s all for now but stay tuned and have a great New Year!!!
