
Rick Stone holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Northern Iowa (Cedar Falls, IA) and a Master’s in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music (Boston, MA). He has studied with Tom Barry, Robert Washut, and Chris Merz (UNI), Jerry Bergonzi, George Garzone, Bob Brookmeyer, Marty Ehrlich, and Steve Lacy (NEC).
Rick has performed and/or recorded with musicians and groups such as the Either/Orchestra, the Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra, the Ayn Inserto Jazz Orchestra, the Quartet of Happiness, Bob Brookmeyer, George Garzone, John Tchicai, Robin Eubanks, and several others.
Rick currently teaches saxophone and jazz improvisation at the New England Conservatory of Music Preparatory School in Boston, as well as music classes/lessons at other public schools around the Boston area. He also maintains a busy performance schedule with various groups around the northeast.
